Most people who know me, know that I love Etsy. Etsy has so many talented sellers and so many Montessori inspired products. We have really enjoyed this land, air and water categorisation quilt that was made by amykuhlcox. As Amy suggested we vary the animals. Here Caspar is using some Australian animals. I am sure I am not the only mother with a son interested in insects. There is so much that you can learn from them and I can see how they can be fun and yes, a little gruesome. Our favourite topics include naming the body parts (wings, legs, antennae, mandibles) which leads to discussion on modes of transport (jumping, flying, walking) and then onto diets, prey and who eats who! How to raise an Amazing Child the Montessori Way is the first Montessori book that I remember reading. Initially I borrowed it from our local library but later I purchased a copy. It remains my favourite book and the first one I would recommend to first time parents or anyone with a slight interest in Montessori. I rate it so highly because it is easy to read with simply language engaging and has a friendly tone colourful, bright modern, recent non authoritarian, non judgemental well presented and well formatted However it really is light reading.
