How we Montessori - the Children's Bedroom
You can see pictures and details of Otis's Montessori Nursery here. Now Caspar and Otis are in the same bedroom, the room is still Montessori but it's much more modern.
The bedroom is for sleeping, reading and quiet time. Occasionally the boys will bring in toys but with the exception of toys stored in the wardrobe and their bears, there aren't any toys kept in here.
Two beds, low front facing bookshelf, book baskets by the bed, clothes within easy reach and low artwork. It's intentionally simple.

I find it difficult to choose artwork for Otis. He is too young to have any strong interests and cannot pick artwork out by himself. He loves animals so his artwork to date have all been animals. We have used some prints and I also like using original watercolours.

Caspar does have strong interests and will often pick out new artwork. The two frames on the left are A4 which are ideal for rotating his own work and work he likes to display from school.

I have almost finished a photo wall on the entry to the bedroom. The children love to see photographs of themselves, friends and family. It runs from the ceiling to the floor - wow so many photographs.
.
The room has a built-in wardrobe. My children don't have many clothes. I don't believe we need a lot of clothes (which is why you often see them in the same outfits) and find fewer clothes easier to manage. I don't wash everyday but I normally wash at least once every two-three days.
.
There is a child sized laundry basket on the bottom left. Each child has a basket for their underwear, pajamas, shorts and other clothes that need folding. The rest of their clothes are hanging on the low hanger in the wardrobe. The high hanger is good for out of season clothes and the top shelf is for storing Caspar's large truck collection.
.
We use the front of the sliding wardrobe doors to hang artwork and artwork from friends.
.
I hope that it's assumed that I have tidied the room and made the beds myself before showing you around, I may have even vacuumed the floor and scrubbed dirty fingerprints off the walls!
