Marbling - Something Amazing to Try

Otis using marbling kit at How we Montessori

Have you tried marbling? This was our very first time. I really had no idea how it worked or if it would be ok for Otis to do. Supervision is required (I filled and emptied the water in the tray) but this was a fantastic experience. It's not at all messy, it's all contained and it was great to experiment with. I love the hands on experience with colour!

The boys are now on school holidays and this is one of the activities I had ready for them. This turned out to be perfect for both of them.

While the process of selecting and swirling the colours is so much fun, the end result is spectacular. The dried paper looks amazing and really special, we will be using it for gift tags and cards.

We used a kit (including the tray) however the same inks are available here in the US. There are lots of extension ideas for this like making patterns, folding the paper first and dipping it into different colours and dying fabric. I actually really want to have a go myself.

If you have a Montessori related environment or activity you would like to share please feel free to join the Montessori at Home link up below. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
