Amazing Children's Picture Books - About Grammar!?!

Ruth Heller Grammar Books at HWM

Are you looking for grammar work that complements what your children are learning at school that is also fun and interesting? A few of my Montessori teacher friends have recommended Ruth Heller's Explore Language Series and they did not disappoint. The books we have in this series are beautiful and whimsical. They are imaginative, creative almost mystical. The colours and the clash of pattern make this series captivating, while the language is lyrical and fun. One reviewer rightfully said "a visual and auditory feast!". Let's take a look.

Ruth Heller Many Luscious Lollipops at HWM

This one is Many Luscious Lollipops: A Book About Adjectives. All of these books are exuberant and full of joy! It's like a celebration of grammar!! This covers what an adjective is gives lots of colourful examples. All of the books go a bit further, this one covers predicate adjectives, demonstratives, possessives, articles, proper adjectives, compartatives and superlatives. For those who are crazy about grammar - you will love it!

Kites Sail High: A Book About Verbs. "A VERB is really the most superb of any word you've ever heard...". Ruth Heller's writing is  wonderful. She also illustrated all of these books. What an amazing talent.

If I could get them here in Australia I would order them all! Other books in Ruth Heller's Explore Language Series include:

If you are in Australia, some of these titles are available at Booktopia

I would recommend these for children aged 5-10yrs +, perhaps best for 7-8 years depending on the individual child's level of reading and the topics. Otis is nine and is enjoying these, he still gets a lot out of them!
