A Montessori Bedroom at Three Years (3yrs 9mths)

We are seven days into a 14 day Covid isolation period (we can't leave our home, due to Otis being a close contact). So today I vacuumed and generally tidied Otto's (3yrs 9mths) room. It looked so pretty I thought it was time to take a few pics and share the new layout with you. The last time I shared his room, he had just moved into his 'big' bed.

Our home is split over four levels. Otto's room is on the fourth (top) level, and his other work shelves, art shelves, and toys are on the first (bottom) level. So we find it helpful, especially early in the morning or in the evenings to have a few toys, materials, books, and at least one set of drawing materials, in his room.

He has some shelves and a table and chair to work at in his room. He does a lot of writing, and drawing here but also puzzles. We have a bit of an ocean theme happening at the moment.

We rotate the materials on these shelves frequently, sometimes just bringing upstairs something he is working on downstairs or swapping around the trays and baskets. We also need to rotate the plants in his room, it's winter here so the light inside isn't the best.

I love to have a large-ish forward-facing bookshelf in his room.

His low bed is the perfect place to read and relax. I love the book he chose to read here is all about microbes! 🦠

On the other side of the room is his wardrobe, which hasn't moved. I want to make a few changes to the wardrobe by adding some hooks for his bathrobe and hats. These two armchairs are also great places to snuggle up and read!
