Halloween Crafts & Activities

Halloween activities at how we Montessori

Have you been getting ready for Halloween? Here are a few Halloween themed activities we've been doing with Otto at four-years.

I knew Otto would enjoy painting them and they look fantastic! I might seal them with some Mod Podge or something similar.

I've presented this activity with three colours which Otto picked out, I would have presented this with more or fewer colours depending on his choice. He painted his other pumpkins other colours including some of our UV-glow paints (c/o Modern Teaching).

We also coloured the Paper Mache pumpkins (AU) with square pastels.

We love using a Halloween Playdough Tray.

This tray includes Halloween themed stampers and model animals.

Bat cut outs at How we Montessori Halloween scissor cutting work

Here I traced around a Laser Cut Bat (AU) to get a bat shape on the black paper. The child can now cut out the bats and put them on the wall for decoration.

Threading and weaving Halloween ribbon.

This was a huge hit. I've tried weaving with Otto previously and he wasn't interested, so this shows how we can wait and present the activity again, or present it in another way to interest the child.

Magnetic Tiles Halloween Bat at How we Montessori

We have been loving our magnetic tiles. My older children helped me to make a bat shape out of the tiles which I photographed and printed onto card. Now Otto (4yrs) can use the card and the tiles provide to make the bat shape.

Our latest Halloween book has been published in Australia, so it has a few Australian themes.

Bat books for Halloween at How we Montessori

These aren't specific Halloween books but they are about bats which works in with Halloween nicely. We've been enjoying Zipping, Zapping, Zooming Bats and Bat Loves the Night

Zipping, Zapping, Zooming Bats contains lots of interesting information and facts about bats.

While Bat Loves the Night also has facts throughout the book but it is a story book. ❤️🦇

Like many others (around the world) we've ordered materials for other Halloween crafts that just haven't arrived due to supply shortages. We may share other Halloween crafts at a later date and I apologise for not being able to share them sooner.
