Our Montessori Home Favourites - at Kmart Australia ✨
Lockdown regulations are starting to lift in Sydney. While we are still laying low, yesterday I took a look around Kmart (Australia). Kmart has lots of really useful items for a Montessori home, and perhaps some for the classroom too. Let's take a look at some of my favourites. I've linked all products to Kmart but please note stock varies from store to store.
Above is The Montessori Toddler and The Montessori Baby, this is the lowest prices I've seen which makes these books more accessible.
We have three of these mini spray bottles at home. They are a fantastic size for toddlers and preschoolers and are useful for practical life and art activities. I love that they are clear, it's easy for the child to see inside the bottle and see how much liquid is in it. We use one in the kitchen for cleaning, one for window washing and one outside for water play. At my local Kmart, these are in the travel accessory area in the beauty section. Kmart has other travel bottles that are useful for children.
We have one of these flip-lock containers in our playdough tray. The flip-lock creates an airlock seal and it can be used by older toddlers and preschoolers. These are child accessible containers useful for children's play dough and snacks.
This is a large wood round tray with sides and handles (I can't find a link) that would be lovely for setting up an interactive display for children or for holding crafts. I also like other round trays like the Round Woven Tray, Rattan Look Round Tray with Handles, Round Rattan Tray and the Black Powder-Coated Tray.
Kmart has lots of fantastic baskets suitable for holding materials, crafts, and toys. These seagrass baskets are in the kitchen section and marked as fruit bowls.
These baskets are also in the kitchen section. There are lots of sizes and options here for storing and displaying materials.
More baskets including these small rectangular baskets.
Children's jumbo tweezers for developing fine motor skills in sensory play or transferring work.
Children's colourful funnel set for water play, pouring water into a vase or containers and large magnifying glasses for exploring.
Above to the right is the Threading Reels and Buttons Activity Set. These can be used for colour sorting, threading, counting and more. For a younger child (toddler) you might like the Wooden Threading Beads in a tray.
A forward-facing bookshelf with some storage underneath.
If you are looking for a house style floor bed, Kmart has this one with a minimalist design.
I love looking through the arts and craft section!
Watercolour paints, brushes and accessories.
We have this interesting In the Garden wooden puzzle at home.
I enjoy looking at the bookshelves.
Kmart always has a good range of educational non-fiction books. These are good to give as gifts too.
Yesterday I bought Trace & Learn First Numbers. It's a board book with lots of images of Australian animals to count. There is a cut out where the child can use their finger to follow the arrows to trace the number. This is a lovely tactile book and it goes up to 20, many counting books stop at 10. I would recommend it for children learning to count to 20 and for those learning to write numbers. They also have a Trace & Learn First Alphabet book.
I also bought these Lower Case Dry Erase Writing Set today. So far my child is liking them as a different writing experience.
My local store was sold out, but we've previously bought these Life Cycle Wooden Discs (Apple, Sunflower, Frog, Butterfly), they've held up well with lots of use. I also love the look of these Learning Posters for Insects and Animals.
